Perhaps not common knowledge, but the fuel pump is housed in the fuel filter assembly. Many Lotus cars are asking a lot of the fuel system and its especially important to keep that system up to a high standard as these cars age.

You can access the fuel filter assembly through the access hole found behind the left seat. It's a bit of work to get to the assembly, but an important maintenance item to tend to.

Note: 2005 models may damage the bulkhead portion of the assembly during removal, as Lotus spec'd the fuel tank opening a bit too small. The damage may require replacement. Click the following for a replacement fuel assembly bulkhead. 2006+ cars should bot have a problem.
